Days Full of Green!

Spring is arriving. The fields are green and rain and snow are falling in the mountains. The cloud formations are gorgeous. There is such promise in the air. The teenagers are busy. Heck, we're all busy. Tomorrow one going to play rehearsal and the other for kayaking at the beach and who gets to do the driving and waiting? I just love the green though. We don't have it for long in Southern California. We're in low desert so our Spring is a transition from an unseasonably warm January(seems it happens like this every year) to back and forth swings from gorgeous soul warming 80s to back to the 30s. We've even had scorching temperatures in the 100s some years by March/April. Of course that burns the tender green of new shoots and they never come back quite the same. By May it will be tan and brown again. I am drinking in the green since I know how temporary it all is. Cycle of life and all. It is completely rich though, isn't it.

Spring Has Sprung!

How are these for Springy? Just need to put the finishing triangles on and knit the heel, foot and toe...
It's so nice to be on vacation. I spent a couple hours at Yarn Deli, fixing my Sidewinder socks so I can rush to the finish(after I finish my son's flame socks.)

New irises blooming today

Okay, there is definitely more going on in my yard than in my life right now. You might have guessed I was really into irises a while back. I even have maps and names of where they all are planted. I've been lazy looking up the names while I've blogged them, maybe I'll get around to it soon. I am pretty sure I know where all my maps are...In the meantime, here are the ones starting to bloom today.




You caught me. This is not an iris but a snowball bush. They'll turn white soon, but I like them better green.

Another great day!

Wow! What a beautiful spring day! All these irises are blooming today. These are still only a few of the ones in the yard. Many still to come. There are so many buds just about to pop!


Went to San Diego with Leigh Ann to visit Ramona. We got the grand tour of all her orchids. She has the most amazing Australian dendrobiums. Here are a few of the most unusual ones.

Spa Vacation Day Coming Up!

Went to our tax appointment at Socrates Finanicial today. It sure feels good to have that almost done...need to find two more papers and we're done for the year, with money back! WooHoo!!!

Making plans for Glen Ivy Hot Springs with my friend Heather! The rest of the group pooped out for The Spa Resort in Palm Springs, so we're planning closer...I don't really think it is closer for me, but once you get there that doesn't matter. It's so hard to choose...massage...body wraps...facials...mineral baths...pools...clay...oil...stones..."the grotto"...manicures...pedicures...it goes on and on. I know I need something to kick start my body for spring and summer. I have gotten frighteningly sluggish and feel unlike myself. I think this is just what I need. If I start with a cleansing fast tomorrow and then spend the day detoxifying Wednesday I should be good to go.





These are two Tall Bearded Irises blooming in front of my house now. They are siblings from a cross I made between Thornbird and Lady Friend. I like them. They're my babies.

Spring Break begins!

The sun is shining warm and inviting. The flowers are spreading their scent in the air. On my drive home I smell the orange blossoms. In the front yard it is jasmine, freesias, and orchids. It looks, feels, and smells like spring. I am so excited to have some time off to enjoy it all.
