Pool never looked better

The pool is fixed and the kids have been swimming. The light is even fixed. I don't think it has looked better since we've lived here (9 years now).

This is one of the yarns I posted. It's silk I bought to try dyeing. I have an idea for a lacy tank I want to try. I think it will look best as it is. So no dyeing for this one.
In other fiber news, I was invited to join Ravelry! I have added a couple of projects and some yarn on my personal page. It's really cool! They just invited over 2000 people to join. It is still in beta stage but I guess they have worked out enough of the bugs to give it a go. You should definitely give it a look. It'll be great to get my stash organized and added so I can check on yarns for a project when I'm not home.

Pool filling...

Well the pool is finally fixed and being filled. Now there are only about a hundred more things that need doing before we leave for New York.
Thought I should get at least one picture of the culprit before everything looks back to normal...
Here's the Drop Stitch T's body. I haven't decided if it's going to stay this way or not. It'll be more useful in the summer without sleeves. My daughter thinks I should use the sleeves as leg warmers. Hmmmmmmm. That's a shadow on the T from my holding the camera over it.

Sunday at the pool

The boys have been working on the pool. It looks like we'll have to get a professional to come check the damage done. Lovely aye?
Not much more happening. Trying to get things done in time for summer. Checked out Close Knit to find some cool superwash for an throw I want to make while driving cross country. I thought it'd be cool to make stops in different states to add to the throw as we go. A trip momento so to speak. I found a pattern for a giant crochet granny square. Didn't find the right yarn yet. I want a bright worsted weight superwash in "California colors". I think of Maxfield Parrish sunsets as California colors. I may have to do my own dyeing to get the colors I want. I don't want to risk something that would felt or shrink. With a family no doubt it would end up in the washer and ruined.
I knit a little on the water bottle carrier/purse. It's been ignored in my bag for a couple of weeks. Have a couple of projects that could use finishing. I am starting to get antsy to design something new.

Thursday's disaster

Okay it's really Sunday or Monday's disaster...it's just not over yet.
Dealing with the pool being broken. It's now empty thanks to my son and his friend dropping cement pavers into the bottom and breaking one of the pipes. Talented boys hitting it just right. The house was built in 1897 and is in constant need of maintenance, yet here we are dealing with another disaster. I don't know how much more I can stand.
There is good news too.
Four days and counting til school is out. Claire made great language arts progress this year so got this cool present. She worked hard this year.

I've Been to VELONA"S!!!

Okay, I've finally made it to Velona's. Leigh Ann has been saying I wouldn't believe it and she was right! Look at all the yarn! Not only that, but they know where to find anything you ask for. I wandered for over 2 hours! I finally stopped only because I was on overload and couldn't think of what else I might be looking for. I found a silky looking cotton to try a scarf/wrap with some mohair lace weight I have. I bought 2 skeins of Cherry Tree Hill and 4 skeins of Jitterbug sock yarn....oh the colors...I even found red & white and dark blue Suede for a headband for my son. I wanted lots more. I need to make a list of what I'm really looking for next time.

In other news at home.

Claire was the first one in the family in the pool this year. She and her friend went in this morning... twice. Though they did get out quickly. It was a lovely warm day, but the pool has got to be 60 degrees or so (don't know for sure, no thermometer.))

Alex will be in the last show of Vista Idol on Wednesday and needs an appropriate costume for his Jimi Hendrix version of "The Star-Spangled Banner." I dug out my old macrame book and whipped up this headband. I think he likes it.

I am waiting to hear from my friend Leigh Ann how far I can knit on my socks tonight. We're not racing...just motivating each other...
And THANK YOU Paul for fixing the water. My irises and orchids thank you too! :*
