Finally finished my Dropped Stitch Sweater

I really like the way it turned out.
Now I'd better get going on the Christmas knitting.

There has been knitting

I started a new project yesterday. Flame socks for my son for Christmas. I think it's safe to tell. I don't think he checks my blog. I've owed him a pair of socks for a while now. He wants black, but I just couldn't get into plain black socks. These will have flames inside his shoe so he'll be able to wear them to concerts he plays in.
I finally sewed on the last sleeve on my Drop Stitch sweater.
A tiny bit of progress on the Sidewinder socks. The people who have seen them like the yarn I dyed for them. Still no clue whether they'll fit when I'm done or not. Somebody may end up with a cool pair of socks for Christmas if they don't.

Merlin tries on his sweater

He's not totally thrilled, but can move around in it alright. I have yet to make the sleeves and crochet edging and closures on the neck. Merlin gets groomed on Monday morning. If it gets cool any time soon he'll be covered(literally)

The unsuspecting victim

This is Merlin. The unsuspecting victim. I am thinking of making him a sweater. I must say I feel a bit like a freak making a sweater for a cat. He has a perfectly lovely fur coat already. The problem is that Merlin is a Maine Coon Cat and has 3 layers of fur. He is also getting older and does not do a good job of caring for his coat on his own. Not to mention the clumps of fur all over the carpet even immediately after vacuuming. We need to get Merlin clipped again. With his advancing years and advancing Fall then Winter I am afraid he will be cold. Hence the sweater. Here are a couple of yarns I thought would look good on him. They really blend in with his fur color. Perhaps I should think about making one that is more contrasting...Okay, I decided to try to use up some stash on this project. I started with the ribbing in 'Angel Hair', then didn't think I'd like the Paton's 'Pebbles' as the body of the sweater. I kept knitting with 'Angel Hair'. It is my first cat sweater so I don't suppose it will hurt to knit a trial run. I now have to worry that I'll have enough of this yarn to finish the sweater. I only have one skein of 120 yards. What do you think?

Drop Stitch Sweater Progress

I am almost finished with the Drop Stitch "T-shirt" from the SNB calendar. Here is the back with dropping stitches in process. I have finished the body and sewn up the shoulder seams. The sleeves are going to be a little tricky though. I made them and the body in the round and the armhole openings are larger than the sleeves. Gotta go ask Sharon....good thing Yarn Deli is open til 6. Mean while I am wearing it as a sleeveless tank.

Drop Stitch Progress

I worked on the sleeves to my Drop Stitch T-Shirt from the SNB calendar. The stitches have been dropped and sleeves are bound off. There are ruffles knit into the front and back of the lower arm edges. You can see the size difference between the sleeves from pre to post dropping stitches. I knit the sleeves both to 12.5 inches to start. I haven't measured the finished sleeves, but they look substantially larger to me.

The color is closer to true in the progress shot, rather than the finshed sleeve photo.

Sick Day

Took the day off to go to the doctor today. Yay, maybe I'll get better now. With a little help from Azithromycin. Having a fever the last eight days was a royal pain.
I spent a little time with my circular sock knitting machine. I am trying some feltable sock yarn to make a few little bags for things like cameras and cell phones.
I am getting to the end of the sleeves for my Drop Stitch T-Shirt sweater. I am nervous to drop the stitches and bind off by myself. Perhaps I'll search the web for a tutorial and try it anyway. I just have to decide exactly how long I want the sleeves.

Thought I had to get ready for my mobius class tomorrow, but it is cancelled for the time being. Nancy will be having her anniversary event later this summer when I'll be at camp in New York. I have a class planned at Old Forge Hardware in July. Anyway Designer Hand Knits is having their sale tomorrow. There just won't be the number of classes and events Nancy had in the past. Her anniversary sales/event is so fun! I hope I don't miss it when she does have it.

This week was Spirit Week at our school. My son thought this was a good representation of a nerd for Nerd day. I think it's a little over the top for a nerd. What do you think?

Seis de Mayo

I am under the weather so I just moved around in slow motion today. I did take a tube off the sock knitting machine and hand knit the bottom closing and a short ribbed cuff. I am now working on the shoulder strap. It'll be a "pocket" to wear with clothes that don't have any pockets built in.
Another new project started. I found this T-shirt pattern looking through the SNB calendar. I am using Revue superwash merino DK weight I bought at Yarn Deli. I am altering the pattern by doing the pieces in the round instead of sewing seams later. I'll still have to sew the sleeve to the body...or do I? (Sharon?). I'll have to make sure I have the right multiples of stitches for that to happen evenly.
I've been carrying this project with me for about 2 weeks with all the needles and yarn. Finally, I started. This is how far I knitted on both sleeves today.
